The cult of kirtan originated in Bengal with chaitanya mahaprabhu . Over years composers , saints and bards composed many songs based on Radha-Krishna lore and devotional topics . They were sung in a wide variety of styles , different pitches and different rythms . Taking inspiration from Dhrupad , hindustani musical forms and bengali folk , kirtans are a complete genre in itself .

  • @iamme19781 thanks a lot friend . well , i have had an ear for music ever since i was a kid . later , as i developed a spiritual bend of mind i felt more and more drawn to spiritual music . being a bengali myself im naturally more drawn to bengal's rich and diverse spiritual music . then i thought to share these wonderful gems to people around the world who also have a similar taste but does not understand the language . thanks a lot for appreciating . god bless you forever . hari om

  • @ekacakra the movie is named raikamal . it is based on a bengali novel which describes love affair between a young couple from a remote vaishnav village in bengal . the film is laden with such kirtans . i cant remember the music director right now ...i will have to recheck . thanks for watching . :)

  • @chaula1 yes . in the film it is shown as baul . i think it contains elements of both baul and padavali kirtan .

    it is quite famous in bengal , specially among vaishnava circles . the actual version is much longer and the parrots go on fighting .
