@E1craZ4life I would honestly love to see you post a video of a single piece of tempered glass with its edge wrapped in gaff tape and struck by a nail break like you say it should. If you can do that, I will reimburse you the cost of the glass.
-
@Kimano Yes. I watched it. I'm sure I would notice if he used a nail and/or gaff tape.
-
@E1craZ4life Did you even watch the video? Both the gaff tape and the nail are specifically mentioned.
-
@Kimano They didn't use a nail or gaff tape.
-
@E1craZ4life Tempered glass does not have layers. Driving a nail into the edge of a single piece of tempered glass will shatter it all over the floor (watch this video, watch?v=eqV5W76U8Qg). You need to sandwich the shattered pane between two other panes of tempered glass to make a functional table.
-
@Kimano You only need one pane of tempered glass. When broken from the side, only one layer shatters. The other layers remain intact.
-
@Andrew13301 You need at least three pieces of tempered glass of equal dimensions to pull this off. The three pieces are layered and held snugly together. The tape will suffice, but a wooden frame would make a much nicer table imho. Make sure the interior surfaces are clean, as you will never be able to clean them again. Once all is set, drive a small nail into the middle piece of glass only. The outer pieces of glass will contain the shards from the broken middle piece.
-
@Andrew13301 They took one sheet of tempered glass, covered the edges with gaff tape, and struck a nail into one edge (in that order.)

What type of glass did they use for this project?
And how many pieces of glass did they tape together?
If someone could respond that would be awesome, since i plan on making a coffee table and i need the information, to know how many pieces of glass to buy.

@FREENAMEFTW can we just stop talking about that and im 9 so stop talking about that and what i ment to say was they use a hammer nail or a baseball bat to brake into your car and get your gps or somethin' else like cds
Gaff Tape, cloth tape similar to duct tape (used by Audio/Video/lighting profeesionals) but it sticks better and doesn't leave the gooey residue when removed. the good stuff sells for about $15-20 a roll.
