Brief Explanation of the new law enacted to help veteran's who are suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) get the benefit's that they are entitled to.
For me it's still been a bureaucratic nightmare. I keep getting bounced between OIF/OEF and Mental Health while being diagnosed with "general anxiety" and my claim has been in limbo the 2 years that I've been home... and I don't even have a percentage. My ptsd has destroyed every aspect of my social and professional life and the VA doctors doubt me to my face when I present my claims and gives me diagnoses that downplay my trauma. My mom said I'd have to fight the system ... but I feel defeated.
This is a wonderful change in the VA rules. However, it is far too late for thousands of other vets who started a claim years ago. I was in Nam and I have no medical records from there. They are missing because of "combat loss." Yet I had to go to the National archives to get my unit records. My claim took 4 years but it was approved in 1986. One cool thing; the head adjudification Officer at the Regional office was transfered to Fargo ND. Good luck to you.
Thats great news. Although i was wondering if you found anything on infancy PTSD. As this is actually much more severe & details brain development. You see, i was beeten as an infant & then it continued into childhood. I cant keep a job because i go into rages when i stress. I cant sleep because of nightmares, I am just plane different than everyone else. I have had alot of trouble finding disability in this circumstance. Anything you may have found would be greatly appreciated. its hard,
Maybe it really is because I'm black...
