I am thankful to my psychiatrist for helping me get through my depression. IT IS NOT A LOAD OF MUMBO JUMBO. That's what I thought when I walked into her office that day. I thought that what was going on with me was just a part of my personality, but I was seriously wrong. Prozac and therapy helped me overcome a huge obstacle.

They've helped me. I think its insane how half the people talk about how they beat depression with shear willpower canabis etc etc. I think those people were just down and not really depressed because ive been so depressed i have 0 will power especially not enough to beat it hell sometimes not enough to get out of bed.

I love this movie. The only thing I don't like is how in the book Elizabeth screamed for drugs, any kind of treatment she could get her hands on. Epitome of depression. Loved it.

Time heals all wounds ...never be afraid of meds,,they help....but you have to be willing to change...and accept what is happening

For people who haven't experienced clinical depression it's really easy to think oh you're just being lazy and everyone gets sad. But when it's an actual chemical imbalance in the brain it's not the same as "oh something bad happened, therefore I'm sad" I have absolutely no reason to feel sad sometimes and I'll still feel really numb and depressed. I'm lucky both my parents dealt with depression too so they understand what I've gone through and put me on prozac

For me there isn't ever really beating it. Although I notice out of nowhere it hits me like a wall and next thing I know im fighting for my life. Literally feeling so suicidal that resisiting not to do it is like resisting scratching the worst constant itch you have ever had. In terms of being that bad off I came out of it at least 3 times now. I'm always fearful of when it comes back because each time I dont know if I will be able to pull through again.

    just a respond to this

psychiatrict medicine is one of the oldest known medical profession but only in the past 20-30 years has it seen a fantastic leap in what it can do for people with a mental illness

drugs like ssri and tricyclics can work for some and not others and ect and lobtomy are still carried out

    peace out people keep safe
