My short film about a depressed, and slightly paranoid young man, who wanders through Kensington Market in Toronto.

Budget was about $22. (All I bought was a mini tripod.)

Shot on October 21st, 29th, and November 3rd.

This was actually an assignment for photography class in college. I was surprised that when my teacher saw it, she felt like crying, and that's not a joke. So, how bout you?

  • There is nothing in the film to suggest by any startling degree that this man was paranoid.

The photographs were bad. Exposure, composition, focus. It doesnt seem like you were using photographics techniques to reveal the minds state of your character. You relied too heavily on "sad music" to convey this making your film in essence "radio with pictures".

  • Fair enough. I have to admit that I didn't *really* know what I was doing. I had no storyboard, and no budget. I had to basically work with my environment, meaning I didn't have the neighbourhood to myself. Continuity was also a problem, so I tried to cover it up, by taking shots differently, but it's still noticeable.

The man is slightly paranoid because he looks at the sky, covers his head with his hat, and looks at helmets in an army store. The video was gonna be longer, but I chickened out.

  • Just seems like a random assortment of photos taken during a walk down the street. The isolation seems well conveyed, but there's nothing striking here, and the images themselves seem pretty unspectacular.
