There was no footage shown on US television. I remember how I found out about the Rwandan genocide: I turned to page A20 in the Detroit News to read the rest of the Blackhawk Down Story. The media ignored the genocide in Rwanda because they were too busy trying to get us out of Somalia, where we had been trying to feed the people against the wishes of the local warlords. Its a bit like the way the media has largely ignored Sudan and focused on Iraq.

That line is depressing yet very true. Many ignore what's going on (eg. famine in Somalia). It's terrible.

@badazzfeliciano it's not remotely just Americans too. It's every single nation in Europe and South America and Asia. They all do the same thing. Turn a blind eye because it's easy. I think because they don't care about these people.

The new movie "Attack on Darfur" really helps portray the seriousness of genocide.

@Somozusi not me, but alot americans simply do not care about others. but don't say all of us. not all of us are middle class or rich. millions of americans are starvin' right now as we speak

@let88it88be totally agree...my favorite actor--loved him in Gladiator. He should have won BEST ACTOR at the Oscars for his acting outperformed Crowe (and I like Crowe too) but Joaquin was INCREDIBLE!

"They'll say 'o my god, that's horrible... and then go on eating their dinners..."
Yea we can all put our hands up and admit to being guilty of turning a blind eye to attrocities
