This is one of those few remixes I've done with such limited source material that I had to basically add my own parts in the mix to keep it (somewhat) fresh. This is a new video to an old mix to an even older game. I remember going to the store every day when this came out, hoping to catch the extremely elusive game that always seemed to be sold out wherever I went. The mix is slow, groovy, and quasi-Egyptian.
Enjoy!

Veeery good! I really like the sitar. Gives it that semi-Egyptian/Arabian feel.

Great take on the underground theme. Ironically, I heard this mix long before I gave SMB2 a shot on the Virtual Console. I probably enjoyed the game even more because of it. Anyways, digging the soundscape here. The percussion can practically stand on its own. By the time the piano and strings come in, the spectrum has filled out very nicely. The sitar at 1:50 is very fitting. Reminds me a bit of Koji Kondo's work on Super Mario 64.

This has always been my favorite Mario theme also. It has a laid back theme to it. Also has that Bruce Lee feeling to it!

As old as this is, I am continually drawn to it. It is an excellent re-imagining on four measures of music, one of the best I've ever heard.
