This is the end of a four-part gameplay video of Gimmick!, a platform game released by SunSoft for the Japanese NES in 1992. A worldwide release of this game (as "Mr. Gimmick") was planned but ultimately canceled, leaving only the original Japanese version and a small release in Scandinavia. Gimmick! was a major accomplishment and a beautiful game, and it's a shame that the game never had its chance to shine.

Be sure you keep annotations on! I spent a long time explaining the history and cultural significance of this game, I hope you learn something.

  • I love this game,I grew up with this and Megaman 2 !! Thank you for sharing your thoughts and videos!

  • @Phlad1934 You truly had a blessed childhood with those two games!

  • Has Mr Sakai EVER responded to your e-mail?

  • @rang3r34 Just caught this one. No!

  • Thanks for sharing! I played through the game thanks to your video!

Unfortunately, I didn't make it to this last level. I found all of the treasures and I still got the sad, bad ending! The only reason I can come up with is that I used the continue function.

  • Yeah, that's exactly right, you miss out if you use a continue. Sorry!

  • Another big reason most likely why this game didn't see wider release was due to how the 72 pin cartridge connector was wired. The 10 pins that were used for additional hardware on the Famicom were routed to the expansion port on the bottom of the NES, making games like this and the FDS incompatible with the N/A and EU NES.

  • where can i purchase this game

  • thank you based nes music god

  • Watched the whole play through twice for the music alone, don't mind me.

  • The best annotated longplay I've ever watched. Good job!

  • @theredeye That sucks. This looks like an AWESOME game and you have the BEST longplay on YT!

  • That final boss wasn't easy as he looks.

Watch any Let's Play of this game and you will see.
