I remember buying this album at the age of 17 and was knocked out by the power of his voice speaking of the horror of apartheid through his music. This album should be on cd or mp3. Mine is unplayable some 44 years later!
got this on vinyl for 88 cents...incredible....anyone else got it on vinyl and notice that there is a hidden track on it? lol the record gets to the looping groove at the end but if u lift it over it theres one more quick song
Thank you so much to who posted this song. As previously said ( sandysdharma) it is one if not the most moving "protest song" I ever heard. It is 42 years ago and I never forgot it. What Masekela says here is still true. THANK YOU SO MUCH.
Wow I got the date right for a change. Not very good with that sorta thing anymore. But I can surely recall a multi talented brother with a message as strong as Masakela's. Hugh's still doing his bit for activism somewhere in the states as this is written.
This is one of the most moving 'protest songs' I've ever heard.
Another song on this album in a similar, if quieter vein, is 'Gold...' "Who's gold is this, man? Why do you have me digging in the Earth, man?" Very moving...
