Half Dome Descent after Marines Top Half Dome on 7 August 2009

Clip is of descent from Half Dome by a team of Marines who Climbed Half Dome in Yosemite on 7 August 2009 as part of the Lewis B. Puller Jr. Memorial Hike on the occasion of the 67th Anniversary of the Marines' Landing on Guadalcanal. The Guadalcanal Campaign lasted 6 months and historians label it as the most important campaign in the Pacific in WW II. Both 1st and 2nd Marine Divisions fought in the campaign. The Team in these photos was led by MajGen OK Steele USMC (Ret.), former Commanding General of the 2d Marine Division in the 1980's. The rest of the Team consisted of MajGen Mike Myatt USMC (Ret.), forming Commanding General of the 1st Marine Division in the 1990's; Mr. Pete Paffrath, a Marine Veteran of the Vietnam War; Captain Ryan Munoz USMC, an Afghanistan War Veteran, currently serving at the Marine Corps Mountain Warfare Center at Bridgeport, CA, and Sgt William Tresider, a Marine Veteran of the Iraq War and a student at Stanford University..
