Pela, a 17 years old girl from Lhasa, fled from Tibet in December 2007. She attended school until the10th grade and then she decided to escape to India in the hopes of having a better education and to have an audience with the HH the Dalai Lama.
In the year of 2006, she started her journey to India, but what she did not know was that she was pregnant. Upon reaching India safely, she was admitted in TCV Suja. She was one of the top ranking students in her class, but after being in school for three months, she realized that something is wrong. She went to the hospital, and discovered she was five months pregnant.
Although, having the baby would mean she would no longer be able to attend school, she decided to keep the child.
Tsering Lhundup, was born on July 29th, 2008. Today, he is 8 months old, and today, Pela has sacrificed her dream of becoming an educated woman in order to raise enough to cloth and feed her baby.
She is alone in India in the fullest sense of the word. Tsering's father and the rest of her family is still in Tibet, and due to the political situation, there is no way for her to contact them.
We at the hope center are trying to look for a solution for her and we appeal to you for help.
You can help by donating food, clothes, and money. If you choose to financially sponsering her or her baby and can specify how you want your monotary contributions to be used (i.e. for her or the baby's education, for milk, for rent, food, clothing, etc.).
