Is your idea of working with other people sending them an email? If it is, you're probably not being as productive as you could be. Today we get a look at a tool set that will make you a lot more productive when you're working with other people: TeamBox.

"Email is changing," says Karl Goldfield, Collaboration Agent 001 at Teambox. "There's a new layer coming over email now, which is productivity." Though Teambox's tools might save any number of collaborators a lot of time and money, they aren't necessarily focused on enterprise. "The goal of our tool is to make the everyday of electronic information—what we're doing on the internet—simpler. We're looking at the microbusiness, the small independent contractor. The freelancer, the virtual assistant.... Anyone who has now taken the internet and put it into their data, whether it be email or Facebook or building their own web site, or whatever they have to do, they're interacting with many people."

At the heart of Teambox is having a stream where all the data related to the project can live, so that you're not spending time figuring out which search terms you need to find the relevant data and latest version in your inbox, your phone, or wherever else. "The goal here is everyone eventually is looking at this like a Facebook, in the sense that I am now connected professionally—almost call it a 'procial network'—with all of these people that I work with," says Goldfield. "And we're doing business in a much more organized and structured way than just the older, more archaic ways of communicating."

"Everyone should use it," says Goldfield. "I feel deeply that if you're not using some kind of activity feed stream, running conversation-type project collaboration tool, you're not working in a way that makes you as effective as possible."
