I recorded this off of WTVN radio back in Dec. of 1977. Ohio State had just lost at Michigan that year. This was the game were Woody hit the ABC sideline cameraman late in the game. As a consolation prize, the Buckeyes were off to the Sugar Bowl, with a match up against Paul "Bear" Bryant and his Alabama team. The only time these two coaching giants met on the field.
WGSO of New Orleans did a parody of this coming battle. They called it "The Woody of OS", a take off on "The Wizard of OZ". At the beginning of the audio, you will hear a mistake by Bob Conners and his staff as the tape is not properly cued up.
So let's go back to Dec of '77. I'm in my bedroom, with my portable AM-FM radio. I have a patch cord plugged into the earphone jack on the radio, with the other end plugged into my cassette recorder. Bob Conners is on the air, and this is what I recorded.......
Did you know,Woody Hayes is my great uncle!!!!!Im not even joking!!!!
