The conversation continues at http://www.biologos.org...

In this video clip, Denis Alexander, Director of the Faraday Institute for Science and Religion, discusses the description of the Fall found in Genesis. Alexander suggests that the picture we might have of the story owes more to the imaginative expansion of the narrative as found in Miltons Paradise Lost than what is actually present in the biblical text itself.

  • was not a REAL happening

  • adam did not know right from wrong yet so they could not disobey/ proving this story was made up not by God.

  • it's a story just like the twilight zone stories you idiots

  • fantastic summary... great job!

  • that event must have probably happend in Ethiopia while man and woman where still in pre sapiens like... yes all true... fruit of the knowledge of good and evil (justice) can only be given by God by inspiration: justice in all (culture, arts, architecture, music, cooking, societies). Justice is married to Life, as two faces of the same coin, as Masculinity and Feminity marry to produce a Shalom. Justice and Life come in union to produce Peace... Yet, we have a new Adam (and within him a new eve)

  • lets not create a unuseful polemic on spiritual, physical death... as Adam physicality was confused with his spirituality in pre fall conditions... He was one... one feet on earth, one feet in the Heavens (see perelandra, C.S Lewis)... when he departed from heavens, the root of death started to grow within him, yet he beneficited still a good deal from the life that God breathed in him... just as the devil still has his dynamics from the creative power of God... for a while only...

  • That "on the day" part is very interesting. It mounts a pretty decent case for spiritual death rather than necessarily physical death.

  • Genesis seems so much clearer now! Never stop with those topics about both God and Science! Liked and Subscribed. :)

  • Thx Guys - enlighting stuff

  • You guys are awesome. Never stop what you are doing. It may not seem like it but you are advancing the kingdom of god and really speaking to people!
