  • ohhh thank you... other question

I like doing all sorts of stuff involving making animated films... but if I work for someone say pixar, would I have to stick to a certain job and not get to do anything else... like be an animator and not get to work on the sound effects... if that makes since

    thank you so much

  • Hi there....

Yeah, you are correct. On most big companies you usually become a "specialist". Fx artists do only effects and animators only animate. In smaller "boutique" studios its a lot more common to find generalists who do a little of everything.

  • wait if I want to be an animator does that mean I have to go through all that stuff before I can even start my project... can I just wing it.

  • Yes... you can start your project and wing it at any time.

If you want to be an animator then you should not waste any time learning technical aspects of 3D GCI production. Go learn performance, balance, posing..etc and use whatever renderer you are comfortable with.

RenderMan is usually for TD's working on highend projects.

    Cheers

  • do you know if there is any renderman version available for autodesk maya 2012?

  • mental ray itself is pretty enough! thgh Renderman for maya is still only avail for maya 2009.. or m i outdated? :P

  • Renderman is a program developed by Pixar , it was used to make Toy Story , Monster.INC

  • Thanks Rudy sir ,I've asked these questions because i'm following your book now..Thanks for your time.

  • I ve 2 questions please:

    1. Will i get any extra knowledge or tricks for shader writing after joining this course??

2.Are those Renderman books in the market sufficient to gain knowledge for shader writer??

  • can you tell how to download that software??

  • schools for this are super fucking expensive. Download and play with some 3D software. my favorite software is Softimage XSI 7.5, and Maxon Cinema 4D R11 and practice.

  • oh well that sounds like more fun to work for a smaller company... hmm Idk what I want to be, but I do know I want to be something in the fields of making 3d movies ( or shows or short films). I guess some schooling will help me decide.
