might be irrelevant, but back in 06 when i used to live in pittsburgh, going downtown was a big no no. even if you absolutely had to go only few people dared to go off the interstate into the downtown area. i can see now that conditions have improved considerabely, but as you can see here most people still feel uneasy about going downtown at night, hence the few cars. in the daytime its usually bumper to bumper

@aquantomeffect Interesting. I've been visiting Pittsburgh since 2001 and never felt uncomfortable tooling around downtown at night. I usually stay at Station Square and more than once I've walked on and across the Smithfield Street Bridge at night taking photos and toting a tripod and camera gear, never once felt uncomfortable. Yes, during the day, downtown is husting & bustling, seems to be very vibrant.
