@SoqqyDonutZ John Wayne spent his time in the makeup trailer and begging for deferments out of the military while Jimmy Stewart actually fought in the war despite being married, having kids, being famous and pushing 40! Jimmy Stewart is *such* a man that he was willing to read a poem that brought him to tears on the Johnny Carson show about his recently passed away dog. *That's* what a real man is. Wayne was a blustery tin-plated blowhard.

OMG!! What total rubbish!! I know if people have read all about the attack on the Alamo mission. A small history lesson. The battle started at about 6 am in the morning, by the time the sun add risen - it was all over. It did not start mid afternoon like Mr. Wayne would have you beleave.

@wildbillOK Crockett hated Jackson, thats why he lost re-election and said "you all can go to hell and I'll go to Texas"
-
Yea. Before Shitlight(twilight) and hannah montana.
Not to mention the fuck up on the national anthem during the super bowl.
Seriously. Screaming and bad octave changes on notes doesn't really constitute as singing....

@GojyotheFeared haha yeah they are brilliant films too, dont you think films and actors were much better before?
-
Hm. I was thinking The Dirty Dozen and The Magnificent Seven.
But good film suggestions non the less.

I like John Wayne. But why is playing the life of a former illegal alien sponsored by Washington?

Crockett might have been a foreign invader working for Jackson, as you suggest, but once Santa Ana became dictator and abrogated the 1824 Constitution, the struggle turned into a revolution waged by both Anglos and Hispanics (mostly Mexican citizens). Due to the generalissimo's tyranny, his failed campaign gave birth to a nation. Later, with the will of the people, the Republic of Texas was swept up in Manifest Destinty, while Mexico languished in anarchy half a century longer.
