omg. i got chills. throughout the whole thing. but they really took over at the end of the song. fantastic fantastic fantastic performer! i've been listening to his videos for a while for the past like hour or so and i've JUST discovered how great he is. of course, i've heard of him, but i'm only 18, so i never knew just how great his music was. brilliant. brilliant, brilliant. we're really missing out nowadays by these "so-called top 40 musicians"

Saw Sammy sing this in '87, LOVED IT & kicked myself for not taping it. Always recalled him saying it was his best vers. I’ve missed seeing it 23 yrs! As a dancer, I talked w/ Sammy several times. He was, still is & always will be the Greatest Entertainer ever. The AI “singers” & “stars”(?!) of today can't hold a candle to what he did for 60+ yrs. His Star Quality, talent, passion & connection to audiences can't be taught. Either you have it or don't & THIS MAN HAD IT!

On the day this aired, I was walking through the living room and stopped to look at the tv. Then I sat down on the couch, and by the end of the song, I was in tears. He still had it.
I was very disheartened to learn that the telethon will be cut to only 6 hours. Even more disturbing was the fact that the press release on the MDA website had no comment from Jerry Lewis. In fact the press release didn't even mention him at all!
