Avast! Home Edition Antivirus: Free Real Time and Full Virus Scanning Protection Software

There are three Antiviruses in the free antivirus market that are competing with eachother. These include AVG Free, Avast! Home Edition and Avira Antivir Personal. Avast! pulls in on a close lead with AVG Free in second place. Avast shows its colors with its real time scan engine, which they include with the free edition, unlike AVG Free. However, as far as real time scanning is concerned, it can and does use up more resources than AVG and Avira - so it's probably not best to install all the features of Avast! onto a computer that is already having speed issues.

Yes, but it's still in the preliminary stages, I usually only recommend to most people an antivirus that has been out long enough to survive the test of time. Microsoft has originally released a number of antispyware utilities before that have been great at first but poorly updated in the long run.

I like your videos mate :) but i have to correct @ 3:20. You say that Avast would slow down pc's more than AVG does. Well, AVG does a scan every day, and i tell you. My FPS went from 60 to like 15, even when i played WoW :S But man, your videos are better than thinkernut :) +5

Yeah, I disable the daily scans of AVG free right after installation in my videos - I usually suggest Avast anymore though because it has been rated higher by 3rd parties in detection rates and removal. :D

any PC that is connected to the internet is possible chance of being affected. when you surf those sites your not supposed is a problem.. I like this video.. I just want people to realize what they are getting into.. when they surf the web..

If you have a slow computer I would avoid both AVG and Avast. AVG surprisingly does not have good memory management despite the lack of good real time shield. Avira and PC Tools Antivirus Free Edition are probably the best antivirus programs for comps on 512 mb ram or less

I'll give avast a try when version 5 comes out. I HATE avasts currently interface. The functions look good though
