Saira Khan investigates the dramatic stories of British Asians taken to Pakistan by their parents and forced to marry against their will. With exclusive access to the Government's Forced Marriages Unit and its office in Islamabad, the programme follows the dramatic rescues of young women in remote rural communities in Pakistan.

For reasons of immigration, honour, money and family ties, some British Pakistani parents insist their children marry cousins and will ignore their wishes. If girls refuse they face being cut off from their families or worse. With the government introducing new powers to try and stop the practice, Saira Khan asks why in the 21st Century the forced marriages still happen.

  • FIRST of all, for the non Muslims', forced marriage is not allowed in Islam, it is a cultural thing, not religious

SECONDLY, i want to work for this organisation, because i want to help free people from forced marriages, i find it to be absolutely disgusting

THIRDLY, if you are a parent reading this and you have forced your kids into marriage, i hope you get punished severely for what you have done

It's not your LIFE, don't be selfish, don't control the lives and choices of others

  • @CutieCatLoveYaNya I wasn't denying that. I know for a fact there are awful things happening there. I was merely trying to make the point that such practices aren't the 'islamic way'. We shouldn't confuse religion with culture and habits. Even though such practices are more common in 'Islamic' countries, I know for a fact that this is not allowed in the religion

  • @loeppie in those country's they also think that every women without a burka or a headscarf is a whore so they rape western girls T.T really, believe me, it happens

  • kutopdracht van wasreporter

  • fucking huiswerk D:

  • @Stefan435010 beter dan huiswerk :p

  • @DaCatOnTop Islam does not allow it, even better, forced marriages are forbidden in Islam. So it has nothing to do with 'islamist culture' (btw islam is a religion, not a culture). Those are just some stupid (eastern world) traditions
