@mydogbilly I remember that night! Our running joke was that KAF was under "Clown Attack"!
-
@mydogbilly Yea they said seek shelter in place immediately. I was like fuck that and I ran to a MRAP lol
-
Used to get a good laugh when we'd tell the rookies to hit the floor during the test....alot of red faces.
-
That's a Whelen 2906.
-
@brighamosity2 That was on May 22nd. The JDOC kept repeating the message "KAF is under ground attack. Take shelter in place immediatelty". Is that the same night the Ecolog building got hit? No laundry for a few day.

This is a Whelen WPS-2700 series (or possibly 2800 or 2900, I'm not sure of the visual differences) siren, running first in fast wail, then steady (alert), and finally alternating stead (or HiLo.)

I wouldn't want to hear it at 2 or 3 am, well, anytime for that matter ...

Ya I was there for that! what a crazy night. I remember when I opened the door to my office and saw a rocket fly just over head and hit near role 1!
Can anybody tell me what he is saying at 2:16?

@sirenfan97 "Mass Casualty"

The alarms may be a recording, but that had to be a real person there, because sometimes the messages would be personalized. Were any of you guys there around June 2010 when Kandahar Airfield had the ground attack? We had no idea what was going on because this same guy was talking and no one knew what he was saying.

@brighamosity2 I can say with 76% confidence that the parts saying 'rocket attack,' etc are pre-recorded and probably stored in the siren control unit at each siren, but the jdoc announcement is probably live. I was on a FOB all but a few short weeks for the year. I don't remember hearing any personalized announcements.
I remember that happening all the time in kuwait though (ali ah-salim) to the effect of " *solder names* you better get your asses to tent whatever or else"
