The greatest lead voice inspiration to us. The impeccable delivery, the precision control and range of the lead of Eugene Mumford. A great decision for Billy Ward to let Mumford have this rare moment to shine in his Dominoes era. Eugene Mumford, a vocal hero to us. Beautiful.

Gene Mumford, one of the premier great voices of all rockdom, gets his due in this ditty along with Stardust a few months before. He had great range.

This group has an interesting background dating back to the late 40's. Billy Ward wrote,and arranged music plus he was a pianist. From the early 50's untl 1957 the Dominos had great lead vocalist such as Clyde McPhatter and Jackie Wilson in addition to Billy. He took this Classic song and arranged it into a million seller 20 years after in was written. There is no better vocal rendition of Deep Purple. Billy Ward and the Dominos own this one forever!!
