A trip along Interstate 70 in Colorado through Glenwood Canyon, which was the last and most difficult segment of this route to build. Musical accompaniment is an excerpt from "The Canyon" by Philip Glass from his album _Itaipu_

  • @jrixtine that's the civic sense I like about Americans! You can do it better!

  • The attraction for making this video is the strong graphics that complement the Glass composition. The view cannot see, however, the posted speed limit in the signage suspended from the ceiling of the tunnel. It's 50 mph. Why is the driver speeding at 64 mph in a zone designated as a landslide risk?

  • Glenwood Canyon is a special place. It's really too much to assimilate by automobile. My main character, in my current fictional work, has decided to conduct his anthropological field study in this canyon. The canyon divides the area geologically with its chasm, biologically as a border that migrating wolves do not cross, and culturally as a zone where man ventures into the wild or decides to stay put. Glassian compositions provide a zone where the imagination can let loose.

  • This is my favorite by Philip Glass and Robert Shaw. Wonderful.

  • What's that you're driving?

The piece is called "The Canyon" really and is linked to compositions of "Itaipu". Superb album besides, orchestrated by Atlanta Symphony, conducted by Robert Shaw.

  • hm... isn't this itaipu?
