@me148 Olga Borodina has a beautiful rich voice to by the way ;)

@me148 I think DiDonato uesd this concert as a test drive to see whether or not the role fit comfortably for her voice and whether she could potentially sing it for multiple performances in the near future. I think the music fits her voice very well, especially her high notes. It sounds almost as if they soar above the orchestra.

@norisv Everyone has favourites -I would put Baker on same level next to Regine...
I have never heard DiDonato live but she has won me over with this interpretation.
I will not put her first, second or anything to anyone else's version... Not that she would care anyway...lol ... But I am surprised at how good she is.

My god, DiDonato is really amazing. I first thought that her voice wouldn't quite have the appropriate richness (i.e. Horne, Kasarova, Callas, etc.) but she really gives it a more innocent and pure interpretation. And this is why I love her.

La di donato è bravissima.....ma quest'aria no! non ci siamo richiede un espansione che lei non possiede, tantomeno il colore .

You ae completely right. There is no better than Crespin, because the singing and the french.
Sorry but after listening to DiDonato's, Von Stade's, Graham's, Borodina's, and Norman's, I still prefer Regine Crespin's D'amour l'ardente flamme much better.

Why do you apologize? Everyone has the right to have an opinion. Personnally, I really like Graham's :)

She has the colour for singing French music...radiant, and fresh.
With a spicyness!
Such a singer.
Is there allso the other aria?????

Absolutely, her Béatrice, for example, is simply awesome. Her French is really good too, and she has, imo, the perfect sensibily for singing this repertoire.
The other aria should be coming :)

Thank you for posting this beautiful interpretation. This is such a wonderful aria and our yankeediva sings it so spectacularly well! btw, a very good and clear in-house recording.

You're welcome! Such a shame there was no radio broadcast . I hope she will soon performed the role on stage, she's so good when it comes to sing Berlioz :)
