ENGLISH - Ruin of a maintenance building at the secret Nazi airbase called "Fliegerhorst Venlo".
Some buildings (including this one) were camouflaged as a farm so that they could not be detected by the air as hangars.
History: German airfield for nightfighters in WW2 . Small airfield at the border Netherlands / Germany near Venlo before 1940. Since 1940 built to one of the biggest airfields for nightfighters in 2nd WW. Used airplanes: Me 109, Me 110, He 111 with V1, world´s first rocket-fighter Me 163 and other airplanes. RAF and USAAF bombed the airfield several times in summer of 1944. Then the Germans closed the airfield and destroyed all buildings.

DEUTSCH - Ruine einer ehem. Flugzeug-Wartungshalle.
Hier stationierte Flugzeuge: U.a.

  • Are there any of the hangers there where they stored the V1 flying bombs? My Dad told me a story where one night while on guard duty he drove a small vehicle used for taking them out to put on the heinkels and crashed it into one of the V1's. He told me they stored them without the wings on, they were attached just before putting them onto the He111. He also saw a komet fly from the base.

  • @insx58 there are many buildings still around, but as far as I know, the V1 rockets were not used here.

  • cool... yes, either post it or contact me via youtube message center. thanks.

  • @TtimWh yea what ever u think your some posh eejit who thinks he knows everything so im gonna leave u to go and correct everyone on utube so BYE and dont bother writing back cuzz i certainly wont be!

  • @TheJmsmurphy187 LMAO!! report me for what? making fun of an immature and illiterate little you-tube fuckstain who seems to think that anyone will believe the bullshit statements he put on the internet? I mean, come on, everything you said is complete rubbish. The Germans never used Spitfires in combat, nor would they attack civilians, even if they had had enough fuel/ammo to do so. And on top of that a magical bus that can outrun a fighter plane? Seriously, you need to stfu.

  • @TtimWh the ones ur mam is takin now u better shut it it wasent only London that was attacked it was all of england and i know what im talkin about cuzz my mam is a historian now if u say one more insulting thing like that again ill report u >:|

  • @TheJmsmurphy187 that is the most bullshit story I've ever heard...a 'german spitfire' attacking a woman on a country road in Britain. What kind of drugs is ur grandad on?

  • @YouCallitPiracy pathetic fool. be proud of ones native country......

  • @insx58

This is true but thanks to radar equipped night-fighters (particularly Mosquito planes) this was a truly dangerous occupation for the old lumbering Heinkel He111 which was heavily impeded & weighed down by the V1.

To make matters worse for the Germans the allies had by this stage deployed the proximity fuze to their anti-aircraft guns & were shooting V1's out of the sky easily & cheaply.

  • The Germans definitely attached V1 doodlebugs to Heinkels and launched them when in the air from this base during the war. Look where was directly west of the base...London.

  • @Stubbee

Most V1 nere ground launched, but some were also air launched, as stated by duelkenvideo.

  • @1963Austria

Seriuslly I live in the Netherlands close to Germany I would like to switch I feel so limited here.

Just like we are rich but stil inferior to the massive country's.
