Someone asked me recently if I had been able to say goodbye to Michael Jackson yet. Saying good-bye to Michael Jackson ... what a thought. I'll never say never but no time soon will I say good-bye to Michael. Michael feels like family and the first time I met him was when I was young and my family being entertainment centered we all followed his artistry - he was the marker I was held to as a singer. I sang Big Boy, in harmony, word for word, note for note with Michael when I was 11 - that's how long I have been singing with Michael Jackson. I can't imagine the music industry without his artistic contributions. During all of the funeral hoopla, though he has transitioned physically, the thought of saying "goodbye" to him never crossed my mind. No plans to say good-bye. Actually quite the opposite, like millions of others, I am rediscovering Michael's artistry, studying it, embracing his work in new ways. He wasn't perfect, no better no worse than any of us, just destined to be. And he was. In my lifetime I don't expect to see quite Michael's equal - across the board - ever again. Great dancers, sure. Great writers, singers, choreographers - sure, but the combination of his natural talent, creativity, experience, music artistry, style, nuance and concepting skills, the way he did it - ain't no way.
This clip is v3of a Michael Jackson photo montage I edited featuring a few of my background melodies and vocals behind his lead vocals. This version of the song One More Chance is the Stepper's mix.
