Except that it was Lennon who broke up the band. McCartney wanted to carry on. That's what you get from all their own words in the Anthology book anyway. Lennon's and McCartney's accounts in that book agree: it was Lennon who knocked the band on the head, but it was McCartney who prematurely announced the split publicly - a fact which seriously angered Lennon.
