Why not remove the stoves baffle and sweep down from the top of the chimney right into the stove without removing the pipe?

@wobdee1 -- This is just the way my husband prefers to do it and it's his job, so I let him do it the way he wants. : ) It actually is a lot cleaner this way, so I appreciate that he takes it all outside.

Great to see a new vid Renee. Wood stoves remind me of my parents house, my dad cleans his in a very similar way. As usual great vid, and your daughter holding the chicken is so cute.

My girls will do anything to be in one of Mom's YouTube videos. . . Man, I would have been running and hiding from the camera at their age, but they think it's great, little ham bones.

Good to see your husband on a video at last. Looks like he is a pretty good 'handyman' around the property. We just had ours checked by a professional as we don't want a fire in the chimney. He said it's bood to burn very dry wood if you can.

He is an exceptional "handyman" -- when I can get him to finish a project that is. LOL. He built both our barns, put in the woodstove 10 years ago, put up all our fencing, built a 16' houseboat from the ground up, (stored for now), installed our generator -- there's very little he can't do whether it's carpentry, electrical, plumbing, or what have you. Now. . . If he'd just put our tractor back together. : )

Concerning those chimney cleaning products that reduce "tarry creosote" to ash...........I've read some online evaluations that did lengthy comparisons of these type products, that state that they (Consumer's Reports) found no improvement to chimney conditions from using the products. I'm also curious about the removal of the pipe in the house.........that's a first, for me.

Actually, my husband did it before I got home from running errands, so I have no idea. He's quite meticulous though, and it helps that he fears my wrath. LOL!!!

How did you get it out of the house w/o making a huge mess?

Clean ours in spring, so it's ready to go in fall seems like I forget about it until snow is on roof, or it's freezing outside, (If I do it in spring... I don't have to worry about it when it's time for first fire.) Then I do it again on the first warm day in January, or February that we get.
