Helen Evans, President of Nurses for Reform (NFR) based in London, discusses the consumer-oriented reform of European health care systems particularly in the United Kingdom
My name is Dr Helen Evans I'm a nurse? She is obviously speaking from a script using a very anti NHS bias. This is not surprising since (and I quote Wiki) "The Heritage Foundation is a conservative American think tank based in Washington, D.C. Heritage's stated mission is to "formulate and promote conservative public policies based on the principles of free enterprise, limited government, individual freedom, traditional American values, and a strong national defense." Beware of bias B/S.
no prof just on the basis of her achivements and this was all prepared when she goes on about who she is how her opinion counts. you can see that it was scripted.
Oh and my sister-in-law almost died giving birth a few months ago in England. They refused to give her an epidural because they had already reached there annual limit. If she was in the U.S. and had no Health Care and was an illegal immigrant, she would've been able to get the epidural and all of the care necessary. What's sad, is that we won't even see the negative effects immediately. This is almost a waste of time, because you yea sayers haven't even read the bill. Good job!
tezbug - free health care, is this a joke? then how do the doctors and hospitals get paid? Praise the British Government that your not in a wheel chair? How about the citizens of your country who pay for it? It wouldn't be that bloody hard to pay my bills if I just made other people pay for them. This World has become plagued with lazy entitled people. Hey instead of helping one another, lets just have the Government do it for us.
meggatonman, "it isn't 100% perfect but it's much better than none at all." Wow, that is a real persuasive statement. I now believe that the U.S. has been wrong all these years and should adopt the UK system. Lets not forget that people in the U.S. have greater property rights and more freedom overall. Oh and they also pay less in taxes and the buying power of the dollar is still the greatest in the world. Lets throw that away for "free" health care (that isn't).
This woman has a right wing political agenda.the NHS continues to give free universal healthcare to ALL.This is what many Americans have needed for years and have finally achieved through Obama`s healthcare reforms.I am speaking as a grateful recipient of Free Healthcare from British Hospitals.Without this care I would be in a wheelchair by now and a further burden on the State if thats how you wish to look at it.
The US goverment shouldnt tell people they have to take global goverment run health care or they will be fined or thrown in jail this isnt freedom or democracy that is socialism. If they want to help poor people give them money to take care of there own health care but dont force it on everybody most people that have there own health coverage want to keep it they dont want a goverment controled system for everyone.
@meggatonman as a professional nurse I suspect she has seen far more of what goes on inside of NHS than the average Brit.
Have you ever had an expensive medical condition that would raise a red flag to the NHS? If you've never had a really serious, expensive, illness then you would have little opportunity to see how the NHS treats someone who could siphon away large amounts of money from the system.
Who is this person really??? the vast majority of brits love the nhs, sure it isn't 100% perfect but it's much better than none at all. don't believe her! i know because i'm FROM the UK, this womans opinion is unherd of over here, seriously!!
Thanks for the video. I don't understand why when someone tells us how the NHS works in the UK, they don't believe them. This woman is telling us how it is. She not only lives there but she is a nurse.
