Watched the great Stan Jonathan play his rookie season in the IHL with the Dayton Gems, and pound for pound, he was best brawler in the league legend for scrappers. Stan, an Indian off the Six Nations reservataion, gave up inches and pounds to everybody he dropped gloves with. But from Blake Ball to Willy Trognitz, he never backed down. I think the fighting back in those days was better than it is now. It's gotten too technical these days, guys worrying too much about getting hit instead of trying to hit the other guy. Back then it was grab the other guy's sweater and flail away until someone is getting absolutely pummeled or they get tired out.
