Watched the great Stan Jonathan play his rookie season in the IHL with the Dayton Gems, and pound for pound, he was best brawler in the league legend for scrappers. Stan, an Indian off the Six Nations reservataion, gave up inches and pounds to everybody he dropped gloves with. But from Blake Ball to Willy Trognitz, he never backed down. And unlike the traditional goon, he could put the puck in the net with the best of them. Live forever, Stan J......

Jonathan was such a little guy, but was he ever hard nosed. Pound for pound the best NHL fighter. Hands of stone. He always bloodied his opponent. As for Stewart, he was a wannabe. The guy was willing, but hardly ever won a fight. Probably why he became a ref. Better ref than fighter.

Stewart was a great ref. But yeah, his career as a player was not meant to be.

When you look at the combination of great players and unique characters, I honestly can't think of another NHL team that can match who the Bruins have produced, over the years. During the Orr-Espo era, then on to OReilly, Jonathan, or when Wensink called out the ENTIRE team's bench. Or to OReilly, Milbury etc., going into the stands in NY. Legend Ray Bourque to the best power forward ever, Cam Neely, to Tim Thomas having an epic run.

Even had the best-ever label: BIG, BAD BRUINS!

Paul Stewart went on to become a NHL referee for several years.
