Unconditional Love - My Grandpa's Legacy

My (step) Grandfather is an amazing human being, and I wanted to share with you how I've come to realize this. He married my grandma who was widowed with two children, and did his best to raise my mom and uncle. I don't think I would have existed and turned out to be who I am, if it wasn't for my grandfather and the compassion he showed our family. He wasn't obligated to trouble himself with a broken family, but he did, because he loved us unconditionally, and continues to be the most affectionate family member I know.

He never had biological offspring, and no one to propagate his bloodline, but I've come to realize that what he has given me is much more powerful than that.

It is the legacy of compassion and a real-life lesson in unconditional love. I hope to live my life in a way that justifies my existence, to pass this message along to future generations, and make sure that they never forget his story.

This is a video I've been thinking about doing for a long time. It's taken me forever to piece it together, and honestly, I'm not convinced I'm doing justice to the story, but I wanted to do it off the cuff as opposed to reading a script. because it's important to me that I re-live the moments that shape my life as part of the transmission to you.

It's done in a long take which I've edited, and I've inserted two shots I later recorded to make my ideas more clear. However, I might re-record it someday and pull this one down, if I feel that I can do a better job. Hopefully you'll revisit.
