I agree. Redline went out of style 10 years ago. Sadly for market #1, the graphics looks stuck in the year 2000. I've always wondered why are the L3s are so large? Are there many presbyopic (or other people who can't read small-regular size print) viewers in New York? If that's true, I'd bet large print books, newspapers, and periodicals sell well in NYC.

I am from L.A. and have never seen local New york news other than here on you tube but I am surprised that it seems so outdated the graphics and all here on KABC it seems like they are so much more current and updated even stylish surorising because isn't New York the number 1 news market?

Why is it Channel 7 Eyewitness News and not ABC 7 Eyewitness News? They always say ABC 7 for everything else but the news openings.

WABC likes keeping the graphics inhouse. They're cheap and effective. They don't all have to go HD crazy like WNBC.

The announcer said "Channel 7 Eyewittness News" back when....
From 1999 when WABC added the ABC logo on the circle 7, the news name was changed to "ABC7 Eyewittness News", but in 2004 WABC switched it back to the old fashioned way (Channel 7 Eyewittness News), they still keep the ABC logo on the seven. I hope this fall, WABC may remove the ABC logo during only the eyewtness newscasts to go with the old fashioned way.

Don't expect it to happen. After all, they are the flagship O&O station of the ABC television network and they are required to keep the logo just like all the other ABC O&Os.

This "generic opening" for "EYEWITNESS NEWS AT NOON" has been shown for over a month now, due to Steve Bartelstein being fired for, and this was the incident that got him canned, his inability to deliver his local news "window" during "GOOD MORNING AMERICA" (he was sleeping in his office!). It'll be a while before Channel 7 announces a permanent replacement for him....

Well, it has been said that an existing personality within the Station will likely replace him. They are unsure yet though, by the Fall of 2007, they will definitely have a replacement.
