The Canadian Labour Congress recognized there is a pension crisis brewing when the economic crisis hit in 2008. This video outlines what happened and the steps the CLC has taken to solve the problem of retirement security in Canada by launching it's 'Retirement Security for Everyone" campaign.
If you lie to cops you can get charged. This government is a bunch of crooks, liars, cowards, fraudsters, cheeters, They get away with murder. I can see there will be lots of people going POSTAL over this.

how do you know 45 is the oldest you are going to go.

@orangedac I know I won't live to retirement age because I have no intention to. The oldest I'm gonna go is maybe 45 years old.

@shiftydevil623
how do you know you are not going to live to retirement age?
everyone who works has his/her paycheck automatically deducted for CPP (Canada Pension Plan) and EI (Employment Insurance). That along with a ton of Federal & Provincial taxes. When you start working, you'll see the deductions on your pay stub.

@orangedac I have a question and am wondering if you can answer it. I live in a small town with relatively no jobs so I don't know anything about CPP. My question is that are you forced to pay into a pension plan? because I don't want to. I don't expect to live to retirement age and don't want to put money into something I'm not gonna be around to use.

The problem with these govt pension schemes is that they are setup as ponzi schemes.
Each generation pays in more and gets less. Bogus inflation numbers are used to water down the payouts further.
People should save for their own retirements and the only way that is possible is to reduce govt bloat i.e. taxes. We all can't be living like govt employees on a gold plated pension plan backstopped by suckers working in the private sector.

Just wait until more baby boomers retire.
Work longer, get less pension.
Same old story for the working slave.
A life of tax servitude.
Our plight.
