  • I was going to say the same thing as jaytalex10. It is the parent's responsibility to double check before even starting the car to see that all of the children are in and have seatbelts on. It's just common sense.

  • @mewznpurrz Hi! I know what you mean..but I do think some parents are distracted, busy with crying baby, sleep exhaustion, on auto-pilot thinking about other things, on cell phone etc......and accidents can happen even if good parent. Thanks for comment ;o) Take care!! SH

  • yes my kids intend to walk on front the van all time. Camera not help cuz of winter snow, beep beep annoy the neighbourhood if waiting to back up on the road and go .. GOod vlog to share :-)

  • @NorthTrue Hi! Yeah...best to have kids walk in front..and driver to look back and check all kids in seats. I can imagine a mom being busy, tired, talking on cell?, just forgetting to pay attention. I'm so sorry for her. Never ever forget or be same person because heart broken. Take care up NORTH! ;o) SH

  • As awful as it is, the mother should have checked to see if her daughter was in the car. That should be a rule for any parent before taking any vehicle out of park. The last thing you do before moving the gear shift is check seat belts and that everyone is in the car. It is also strange to me because I don't know many 9 yr. olds that aren't tall enough to be seen out the rear view mirror of even an SUV. Why wasn't the mother able to see her?

  • @jaytalex10 Hi! I know should check before backing to make sure kids are all in. I saw SUV yesterday while getting gas...the back is really high and if you were a short child like 4.5 Ft? I don't think the driver could see you. Tragic. Thanks for comment...have great weekend ;o) SH

  • That's sad. The mother should have made sure her kids were in the car before leaving and made sure there was no one behind her truck.

  • @mewznpurrz If you have never had a close call, a moment of panic, almost left a child behind or other stupid thing you would never forgive yourself for had anything happened--then you are either not a parent or in serious denial of your own fallibility.

Also, in those big cars you can't really see a short person walking in front of you, especially if they walk close to the car.

  • @mewznpurrz

If people were perfect, and always remembered to follow all safety precautions, and used their mirrors while driving, and were never distracted, there would be no accidents. Have you never had a close call? Perhaps this parent generally does glance back but this time was distracted by planning what she had to do next, or whatever. Blaming the parent for being careless may make you feel better, and if you are more cautious, great, but remember, the next time you aren't 100% "on"..

  • @deafdub Hi! THanks for comment! Have great weekend! ;o) SH
