For thirty four year old Sandeep Kumble, interior designer withdrawing money from Automatic Teller Machine (ATM) was a regular phenomenon until he got stuck in a muddle. On Monday, Kumble withdrew Rs 3500 from the ICICI bank ATM center, Powai, the machine remitted six notes of Rs 500 and 5 notes of Rs 100. Five out of the six notes of Rs 500 had only numeric zero printed and numeric 50 was missing, a fact, which Kumble learnt only after an alert shopkeeper, informed him. According to Kumble, soon after withdrawing the cash, he visited a hardware shop nearby to procure some ceramic tiles for his on going interior work in a flat in Sun City, Gandhi Nagar and paid Rs 2500 to the shopkeeper for settling his accounts. However an alert shopkeeper Pawan Gupta found out the discrepancy in the currency notes and had an altercation with Kumble for producing fake notes. A shocked Kumble explained to Gupta that he had just withdrawn the cash from the nearby ATM and even showed the withdrawal slip.
