I'm looking for the scene where Mary McDonnell says something like, Once we've had an experience, we can't pretend we haven't had it. We're inextricably linked to it.

Just saw this movie a few hours ago. Wow. I've never seen a more touching, moving, philisophical drama in my life. The meaning behind the whole story is incredible and so powerful. It is now my favorite movie of all time.

Just watched this film, in its entirety on FMC, for the first time since I saw it in a theater almost exactly 20 years ago, and remembered almost all of it verbatim... Either this is a great movie, or I'm a great film geek, or both.
A wonderful, wise, human, philosophical, metaphysical masterpiece.
In an illustrious career, perhaps Danny Glover's signature performance.
(Notice how eerily similar Martin and Kline are, both in delivery, and physically...)

Grand Canyon is definitely one of the best movies of the 90's - unique story line, fantastic acting... Kevin Kline, Danny Glover, Mary McDonnell, Steve Martin, Mary-Louise Parker, Alfre Woodard and young Jeremy Sisto did an excellent job.
A must see movie!!!
