Basically, its a tribute to my favorite sad moments in Fruits Basket, the song is When Your Gone by Avril Lavigne and the ending song is My Happy Ending by Avril Lavigne. The couples are Tohru and her mom, Hatori and Kana, Kisa and Hiro, and Momiji and his mom.
