From the first date of the 1989 North American Tour. The Who rehearsed at the Glens Falls Civic Center, then announced a surprise show to warmup for the tour. This is a better quality dub than the 'Overture' which I posted previously. Footage is from a feed to the BBC and was broadcast locally on the news in it's entirety. This is all I have!

  • I was at this concert - my first real date with my now wife. To think The Who would play a town as small as my hometown (population 13,000) is just amazing. To see Tommy performed, and then more Who hits was awesome. Less than a mile from my house - I could have walked to the concert.

  • Yeah they were hanging out here in town (I live here, too) for a few weeks while they rehearsed for the tour. There's some videos of the rehearsals on here too.

  • Debate about drummers aside, listen to (and watch) that work by the Ox...

  • Check my video called "Classic Rock Riffs on my Autographed Acoustic" - I put an interview with Entwistle in there.

  • Why didn't you put the drum solo that was just about to happen in that tune??????????? why does it cut out there?????

  • That's all I have. The tape I have ends right there. I think that is all that was broadcast - it was for the BBC and they aired it locally, too.

  • I went to this show when it hit Giants Stadium 1989...there I was in the fourth row...absolutely incredible...the sheer power of the performance...Simon Phillips was the best drummer since Moonie.

  • I saw this tour and it was amazing. Simon brought the conviction to the table and turned the Who into something they've never been (IMO) THE best rock concert to date. No question! The power felt by the abilities of everyone on that stage brought the "musicians shiver" down my spine. No joke! If you've ever felt that, then I'm sure your LOL!!

  • I was at this concert in 89. It was probably the best show I've ever seen. (living so close to SPAC, I've seen quite a few) I got a heads up about the tickets going on sale and was fifth in line at the box office. We weren't on the floor, but the way the stage was set up, we could have almost reached out from our seats and touched Daltry. Amazing...

  • @StewartSummers Agreed!

  • Simon Phillips just kills it in this. Amazing drumming.

  • @ghpbmx Simon Phillips Yep! AWESOME!

  • Simon plays like Keith, if Keith were normal, which he just wasn't, which is why he was so great and so perfect for this band..the combination of genius in all of the Who is really even more unique when you consider their personalities.. and their acute senses of tone, playing style and creative imagination to carry P.T's BROAD ideas through...A Brilliant band..Simon is a badass dedicated Moon man without the drugs/alchohol.

  • This song always sends chills up my spine. I remember watching the concert at the Universal Ampitheater on PPV in 89

  • Nice close-ups of Simon Phillips on drums. He powered the Who greatly.

  • That drumkit is fucking huge.

  • @DiamondRabbit

did u nail her on that first date? least she could have done with the cost of tickets, dinner etc...wear and tear on your car..

ps- i took my ex-wife when i was dating her to that tour....greatest show i ever saw or heard....

...i went on to make millions and have great success..when i screwed up a bit..she dumped me...left me virtually homesless and i let her get away with it for the kids sakes...i can always make more bread...

  • best live band ever
