What is Freedom By Design?
Freedom By Design is a program of the American Institute of Architecture Students (AIAS) that utilizes the talents of architecture students to serve their communities. Freedom By Design began as an idea in the mind of Brad Buchanan, FIA, an architect in Denver, Colorado. Within four years, it grew into a program which had completed over $300,000 of built construction. Buchanan realized that t he current structure was not sustainable, and he began to look for an organization to take the program to a national level.
Today, the Freedom By Design program has grown to include students at 64 universities in communities throughout the U.S. and Canada.
