Making a wall of basketry willow along the roadside. I stuck them in the ground last fall and they all have leaves on them!

  • I just cut about 5000 willow trees out of my pond, can I still use these cuttings and will these trees come back? they were not any older than 4 years.

  • Wow, how long did that take you? They will come back if the roots are still there. If your cuttings are four years old, you'll be able to stick them back in and plant them, but for basketry they'll have too many forks in them.

  • Years ago I gook some cuttings from my Dad's tree and stuck them in the ground along a stream we lived next to. I must have planted over a dozen....many years later Driving by the old house, we saw that they all 'took' beautifully....but recently have noticed that they have all been cut down except for one glorious beauty....tall and draping and lovely.......I adore weeping willow trees....
