Music of The Moody Blues:
"Higher and Higher" is the opening look of The Moody Blues 1969 album To Our Children's, Children's Children, a concept album about area travel.
"Higher and Higher", which begins the album, is basically describes area journey as one on man's best feats. The verses of the tune are spoken somewhat than sung. The track's spoken verses are supplied by Mike Pinder. Sound effects of a rocket launching start the track, they usually last for the first minute.
"Higher and Higher" was also the Moody Blues' first full size track that was written by the band's drummer Graeme Edge. Edge was normally the author of quick spoken-phrase interludes that appeared at first and end of previous albums. In the recordings, they have been normally recited by Mike Pinder.
Graeme Edge has said that his inspiration for the track came across seeing the Apollo eleven crew members Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin first walk on the moon on July 20, 1969.
The Moody Blues continue to carry out "Higher and Higher" dwell in concert. Though, Graeme Edge now gives the lead spoken verses in live performance since Mike Pinder is now not with the band. This requires Edge to take center stage to recite the verses (the drums are carried out by their again-up drummer Gordon Marshall). At the end of the verses, Edge then returns to the drum set and concludes the tune on the drums.
Higher And Higher
Songwriters: Edge, Graeme;
Blasting, billowing, bursting forth
With the power of ten billion butterfly sneezes
Man, with his flaming pyre
Has conquered the wayward breezes
Climbing to tranquility, far above the clouds
Conceiving the heavens, clear of misty shroud
Higher and higher
Now we've learned to play with fire
We go higher and higher and higher
Vast vision must improve our sight
Perhaps at last we'll see an end
To our own endless blight
And the beginning of the free
Climb to tranquility, finding its real worth
Conceiving the heaven, flourishing on earth
Higher and higher
Now we've learned to play with fire
We go higher and higher and higher
Eyes of the Child:
Listen hear the sound
The child away
Wander all around
The child away
Now in his life he never must be lost
No thoughts must deceive him
In life he must trust
With the eyes of a child
You must come out and see
That your world's spinning 'round
And through life you will be
A small part
Of a hope
Of a love
That exists
In the eyes of a child you will see
Earth falls far away
New life away
Time it has no day
New life away
Here is your dream and now how does it feel
No words will go with you
And now what is real
With the eyes of a child
You must come out and see
That your world's spinning 'round
And through life you will be
A small part
Of a hope
Of a love
That exists
In the eyes of a child you will see
I suspect the Moody Blues had these same images (and timing) in mind as inspiration for this music...To Our CCC is a masterful statement on one of humankind's crowning achievements...to man the moon. With philosophy arising from hearts sensitive to the larger picture of human evolution, the MB broke new artistic ground with cutting edge artistic vision acquainting so many of us (coming of age in the 60s and early 70s) with our inner philosopher / theologian...As for me, I was hooked...going on

Higher and higher begins with an actual recording of a Saturn V rocket, the kind used for the moon shots, launching. You can see one on display at the Johnson Space Center in Houston. Most lmpressive!
