A short video of our new cow in our backyard. We have 1.19 acres. No homeowners association. Yes the city will let us. We will be getting milk in about a year. My wife loves cows and it will be great to have healthy raw milk for our family to drink.

She currently weighs about 500 pounds and will eventually produce about 3 gallons a day vs 12 gallons for a full grown jersey.

Dog is being specially trained to sneak up on any potential cow tippers and bite them in the a**. :-)

  • A standard jersey does not produce 12 gallons p/day (approx. 108 lbs), you must be thinking Holstein. The one reason why jersey milk has such a high fat/protein content is because they do NOT produce like a holstein. The more milk a cow produces, the more dilute the fat and protein levels. There are some breeders out there trying to breed jerseys with these high production levels, but they are doing a disservice to the breed, IMO. I have 3 standard jerseys, my big producer averages 7 gal. p/day.

  • Got it thanks

  • Pretty heifer. I'm about to buy a miniature jersey. You should get a few chickens.

  • Jersey milk is the superior milk. (They don't want us to know that).

  • a standard jersey of high pedigree is very capable of doing over 100 pounds a day do your reseach ,there are jerseys that milk 30,000 pounds in 365 days.

  • I had a jersey once. She produced 6 gallons a day at her peak. A very sweet, playful animal.

  • she has the most adorable and beautiful face. im envious! she looks almost deer like.

  • i saw it in the jack in the box commercial for the mini sirloin burgers.

  • best of luck to you, jersey is my fav breed

  • 12 gallons a day from an average jersey may be a little much except during its peak
