Somaliland Expatriates Return Home to Help Native Land Develop, Somaliland lies on the Gulf of Aden, a self-declared independent republic since breaking with Somalia 17 years ago. It has its own government, army, police and other institutions, but it is still not recognized by the international community. Despite this, the capital Hargeisa and other places are expanding rapidly. This is largely due to Somalilanders returning from the United States and other countries and bringing their skills and money with them. Cathy Majtenyi has more.

you also mentioned that "somaliland" has its own government, millitary and president, so does hong kong and taiwan, yet no one sees them as an "independant nation".

the above mentioned qualities is nothing to boast about, its a neccesity for every single people. what would qualify woqoye galbeed to become a different nation is that if they where a different ethnicity, had a different language and/or used to belong to some sort of an ancient race.

more people died in "somaliland" during the 80s because the rebellion in the north was stronger there, also siad barre coouldnt afford to turn the konfur and bari against him, thats why he didnt flatten mogdisho to the ground.

im not saying that any of his actions are good, fare from it, they where palin EVIL. suffering has happened on both sides, that dosnt mean that all of somalia should be split up into small weak peices so that they are easy prey.
