THE SYSTEMATIC RAPE OF MADAGASCAR

Following on from THE MADAGASCAR RAINFOREST MASSACRE I posted a year ago, here is a grim update of the situation in Madagascar: even though transitional government had signed a decree in March 2010 implementing a ban on felling, transportation and export of all precious timbers illegally sourced from the country's protected areas, subsequent events have proved that this decree as worthless as the piece of paper it was signed on, and that the Rajoelina government is not remotely interested in the well-being of the Malagasy nation nor the conservation or continued existence of the country's compellingly unique flora and fauna. Never before has the future looked so bleak for the wonderful natural assets of Madagascar.

113 FOREST FIRES in the SAVA region for Nov 2010 compared with 70 in NOV 2009....so fires have almost doubled in the region, hence residents claiming not to have seen the sun for days on end...
