I have a question about the trunk lid... All others that I have seen have had the spare tire showing on the lid this one does not what is the deal... is this an older Studebaker trunk lid?

Really nice car. I love that black & white tires. Too bad that car companies don't put them on new cars.

@zzajtbone 1958 packard hawk is basically the same car as the 57 studebaker hawk without the studebaker front grill. without the studebaker grille, basically makes it a flatter front end. beautiful styling of the rear fins, the way the side panels are indented into the fins, and then the indented area is finished in that metalic-gold veneer. is that a good way to verbally describe the fins? can anybody re-word that better?

Those air vents were there when Studebaker made this body as far back as '53. Kinda "old school" for '58.

Originally a very expensive rebadge of a Studebaker..........no doubt it is rare few were foolish enough to buy one.

This is a version of the 1957 Studebaker Golden Hawk. By the late 50's, Studebaker (and Packard) was on the verge of demise and used each other to keep each other afloat

Shouldn't it have a spare tire cover on the trunk lid?

All 1957 and 1958 Packards used Studebaker 289CID V-8s. Once Packard's Detroit factory closed so did the source of Packard V-8s. No "leftovers" were used.

Not sure about both years, but I know the '57 Packard Hawk and maybe the '58 used leftover Packard V8s (352 or 374) and the crappy Ultramatics that were salvaged from the Detroit plant closing. A clumsy restyle, too...the car is frowning! The Stude version was much better, as it had a more reasonable engine and a far better B-W transmission. Note the leftover Packard wheel covers, also refugees from Detroit.

Not really a Packard though....it's actually a rebadged Studebaker Hawk with Packard styling cues
