@Andybaby not really

I would have thought hitting the note was harder than sustaining it..

Here's the scoop: Would Geoff have been able to sing like this in 1984?
I think we can all agree that he could have. With that established, if Geoff went back in time and sung like this, how come he can't sing now like he did in the past? My point is that in the past, Geoff could sing anyway he wanted to. In this age, he is limited. Fuck all this shit about "growing as an artist" because it's offensive to say that those of us who wish Geoff could sing like he used to are closed minded.

Can any singers here explain why JT CAN hit the Eb but NOT sustain it!?
-
What to say? Great!

have to say,very impressive performance;this kicks butt!!,after 1980'music-video,they have more power in performance and am simply amazed,of that Geoff Tate's still singing with strong capacity=.having Incredible Vocal Range!! what A LIVE band;-wish could have been there:)))Thanks for Sharing!!
It's ridiculous to criticise this performance. First of all, try doing it yourself..ONCE. Then try doing it night after night on tour and the dedication it takes to 'keep' your voice intact. The voice naturally deepens as you get older but I think GT 'interpreted' his own melody perfectly here and other than some of the craziest OTT screams from the recorded version there was nothing missing here andl the main chorus was spot on. He's much more accurate than many of his peers and 'betters'.
