Presentation by Anthony Curtis (University of North Carolina at Pembroke) for the 2010 NMC Symposium on New Media & Learning (March, 2010, http://www.nmc.org/2010-nml-symposium)

Digital stories are a 21st century form of mass communication that harks back to the ancient tradition of oral storytelling. It is a contemporary form of mediated communication combining production techniques from television, radio, newspapers and magazines with contemporary multimedia tools to deliver informative, entertaining short productions with text, still and motion images, sound, music and voice. Content varies, but the scripted stories are about the articulation of a coherent verbal expression the voice of the narrator. I propose a presentation on this exciting pedagogy from conception through working with individuals on their stories to completion of projects and uploading.
