@YoungAndPrepping There is a flashing red dot on the view screen that tells you if you are recording.

About the sound, you may not have the audio codec. Try using a converter program like Format Factory to see if you can convert it where your computer will play it. If not there is a website called "Free Codecs" you can get audio and video codec from. That lets you play the sound. Also try VLC player (freeware) to play the videos with.

If you have low sound, it is the camera's sound chip. I am lucky mine worked fine. The best thing to do is import it into a video editor that allows for increasing the volume. I like Magix Movie Edit Pro v17 for that. You can boost the volume as much as +20db per track. It also comes with a audio clean up utility. Outside of that there is not much you can do. One solution is to carry a digital voice recorder and external mic as backup.

@kimbeanie The video format is H.264 compression with a .AVI file extension. In HD 1080i, or 720 it shoots at 60 frames per second. At Wide Screen lower (VHS Quality) resolution, and at 640x480 it is 29.997 frames per second. All resolutions still uses H.264 with a .AVI extension. If your video editor cannot handle H.264 or 60 frames per second, most any video converter will allow for conversion to something you can use.

Sounds like you have a defective camera. If the SD card fails to work, the camera IC chip is defective.

I have posted a low light, night shot on this channel so you can see how it works. I am finding that about one camera out of six does not seem to live up to the one I have for some reason. I lucked out and got a real good one. If yours is not working right, return it for another. The one I have is perfect for point-and-shoot videos.

How do I make it HD? There is several settings. [1] 1920x1080, [2] 1280x720, [3] 640x360, [4] 640x480, [5] 320x240 dpi. To edit, I use Movie Edit Pro 17 and post as a .MOV or .WMV file at 1280x720 dpi.
