The housing is very inexpensive compared to other areas of the country, and for the most part it's a peaceful place to live. Most of the doctors there are not very good. The pharmacy by the hospital if you use it which I do not reccommend- Double check everything, They almost killed my newborn by putting the wrong dosage on the bottle of a very dangerous drug- a dosage that would have killed a 500 lb man the doctor said when I told him, Lucky I had enough medical training to spot it.

McAllen was the cleanest and prettiest place I have ever lived and I have lived in several different states. The heat, however is UNBEARABLE! Going outside I could not walk a half block without collapsing from the heat. Now I am from the north, so maybe that's why. The people are nice, although some seem to be a bit lacking in education.The reason I moved is the heat and the BUGS! Horrible huge ugly black crawly things that get into your house. EWWW!

Reynosa's great but now the roads are muddy no longer a nice place ever since the violence there.

The valley is the biggest whole on earth. I live my youth there and the place is a dump. You can paint a turd and its still a turd. I hate the valley. That not even talking about the crappy people there. Stop telling people to move there. Its sucks.

I lived in the valley for two years, people are real friendly, but there are basically no job opportunities. If that would change I would find myself living in the valley once again. Unique place.

the rio grande valley sucks the end. i grew up there but once i left for school there was no going back! its ghetto, trashy, nothing to do. people are very closed minded. i strongly suggest not visiting the valley! its always hot and its just border towns thats it.
