A little jam recorded with my inexpensive home studio setup, which consists of a M-audio mobilepre audio interface (2nd gen.), Protools SE and a T.bone SC-300 condenser microphone.

  • Did you use the SE software to record this or a better Pro Tools version?

  • @jkml15 For this i used SE. I am currently looking for better software but SE is okay for simple stuff..

  • Hey man i got a question.I just got M-Audio Mobile Pre.And i plugged my guitar to it and i got ma headphones plugged up to itand i can hear my guitar but the device wont recognize my guitar.Like i cant change effects or anything :(.What should i do? Any hep would be awesome :D

  • @xxLumbagoxxx Hey dude! First of all you need some recording software, like protools mixcraft, cubase etc. And you change the sound of the guitar in the software. The only thing the mobilepre does, is deliver the sound to the computer. It is the computer that creates/changes the sound. When you got that sorted out, it should be relatively easy to change the guitar sound. If it doesn't work straight away, try changing some settings in the Prefences tab. Hope this helped!

  • Good day bro. Greetings from the Philippines! I will be getting my mobilepre this 26th of November. I need it not for hardcore recording but for recording riffs to pass around my bandmates. I'm a guitar player but I will need a bass to record some basslines. My question is.. won't it bust up my computer speakers? or would I need other equipment to play the bass through? I'm a real noob to this computer recording stuff. Thanks a lot in advance. Mabuhay!!

  • @Jinjorulz Or if you don't have the money, a set of headphones will also do the job.:) Hope this helped, Hav tað gott!!

  • @Jinjorulz Hello! The mobile pre will do a great job at doing that! Well, your computer speakers will not get damaged from the bass, because they won't play anything at all. You need a set of external speakers to plug in to the mobile pre. When you connect the mobile pre to the computer, the computer speakers will turn of automatically or the built in computer sound card more correctly. The mobilepre is an external soundcard. So will have to get a set of studio monitors.

  • @warrgrave Yes, that is correct. You plug the guitar straight to the interface, and the computer makes the guitar sounds, distortion, reverb, flanger, you name. But for that you need a good program. I'm not that familiar with mixcraft, i use protools.

  • quick question do you need a mic to record guitar into a program like mixcraft or is it just the guitar hooked up to the interface and that is connected to the computer and speakers right...no amp or mic?

  • Yeah, you connect it directly to the interface, which is connected directly to the PC/MAC via cable.
